Jo Sooyeon Wins Best New Actress at Seoul Theater Festival
Actress Jo Sooyeon has been recognized as a rising talent after winning the Best New Actress Award at the 46th Seoul Theater Festival for her performance in the play Carthago.

On June 10, at the festival’s closing ceremony held at the Seoul Theater Creation Center, Jo received her first official acting award since debuting.
Her portrayal of “Annie,” a woman who gives birth and raises her child in prison, captured the profound emotional struggles of a woman in despair and isolation.
With a restrained yet intense performance, she delivered emotional depth and realism, receiving enthusiastic acclaim from audiences.
Upon receiving the award, Jo expressed her gratitude, stating, “It’s my first award, and I’m incredibly thankful and overwhelmed.
The emotions tied to the project and character linger deeply. I’ll continue to think more deeply and act more sincerely moving forward.”
Jo Soo-yeon made her debut in the 2019 short film Lightning Struck, and has since built her career across film, drama, and theater. Her latest win has sparked growing anticipation for her future activities.
