aespa Dominates VMAJ 2025 with Powerful Wins and Stage Presence
aespa has solidified their reputation as global hitmakers with a record-breaking achievement at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2025 (VMAJ).

The group took home four awards, becoming the first female artist in the history of the ceremony to do so in a single year.
At the event held on March 19 at K-Arena Yokohama, aespa won Artist of the Year, Best Group Video (International) for “Whiplash,” Best Dance Video for “Supernova,” and Best K-POP Video for “Armageddon.”
The group also delivered a striking performance of “Whiplash,” captivating the local audience with their commanding stage presence.
Following the wins, aespa expressed their gratitude, saying they were happy their music was reaching so many people and thanked their Japanese fans, known as MYs, for their ongoing support.
This accomplishment adds to their recent success at the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards, where they were named New Artist of the Year and one of the Best 3 New Artists.
The back-to-back wins highlight aespa’s growing influence and popularity in Japan.
Since debuting in Japan with the single “Hot Mess” in July 2024, aespa has completed two arena tours and sold out Tokyo Dome concerts for two consecutive years—an unprecedented feat for a foreign girl group.
They are also scheduled to appear at Summer Sonic 2025 this August, one of Japan’s biggest urban music festivals, drawing over 200,000 attendees annually.
Expectations are high for aespa’s continued momentum both in Japan and on the global stage.
