aespa Wins Two Awards at Japan Gold Disc Awards, Proving Global Influence!
aespa (under SM Entertainment) continues to prove its dominance as a global hitmaker, achieving significant recognition in Japan.
On February 12, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced the winners of the 39th Japan Gold Disc Awards, where aespa secured two major awards—“New Artist of the Year” and “Best 3 New Artists”—highlighting their growing impact on the Japanese music industry.

Since making their official debut in Japan with the single “Hot Mess” in July 2024, aespa has established a strong presence through two successful arena tours and a record-breaking Tokyo Dome concert series.
Notably, they became the first foreign female artist to sell out Tokyo Dome concerts for two consecutive years, further demonstrating their immense popularity among Japanese fans.
aespa has also dominated the global music charts over the past year, delivering three consecutive mega-hits with “Supernova” and “Armageddon”—the double title tracks from their first full-length album—as well as their fifth mini-album “Whiplash”.
These achievements not only secured them awards at multiple K-pop music award ceremonies but also earned them the prestigious “Group of the Year” title at the Billboard Women in Music 2025 awards.
Now, their success extends to Japan’s Gold Disc Awards, further solidifying their worldwide influence.
Adding to their milestones, aespa is set to perform at “SUMMER SONIC 2025”, one of Japan’s largest urban music festivals, which attracts over 200,000 attendees annually.
Fans eagerly anticipate their high-energy performances and unique “metallic” music style, which will undoubtedly make them a festival highlight.
Meanwhile, aespa has just wrapped up their European tour, concluding with a concert in Madrid on February 12.
They are now gearing up for their highly anticipated encore concert, “2025 aespa LIVE TOUR – SYNK : PARALLEL LINE – ENCORE”, which will take place on February 15–16 at the KSPO DOME in Seoul.
